Aside from my usual normal boring life, I was engaged in not
so usual hobby… cosplay!
Cosplay or “costume play” refers to as the participants of
the event engage in role-plays whether from anime, comics, movies or other
genres in costume. This hobby became
popular since early 90’s where star trek, star wars and western series are
popular.
Cosplayers like me, take part in this event is because this
is how we showcase our love and adoration for the character more than just by
drawing or painting them. Creators will be very proud of if their characters
will be brought to life, it shows that their works are appreciated and loved by
the audiences.
My love for the characters from my favorite series brought
me into another level of creativity. I learned a lot from different cosplayers
from their websites on how they prepare their costumes and act on the
characters on the event. They say that cosplaying is very expensive hobby, well
actually yes, this is very expensive, however if by being resourceful, I’ll
tell you can save lot money…. Another budget for new costume!
That is why today I will show you how I dye my wigs.
Materials to prepare:
white wig, permanent markers (orange and yellow) or sharpee, 100 ml of water and 70% alcohol 250ml and 500ml.
Pull out the sponge thingy inside the markers and pour the ink out by squirting it with the alcohol (under the basin) or put the sponge thingy inside the bottle of the alcohol and shake.
I used a lot of alcohol because markers are alcohol based and i just added water to neutralize the solution.
Mix them all up in the basin and then put the wig.
with orange and yellow permanent markers
with only Yellow permanent marker
I have waited 6 hours, making sure the ink will stick on the wig.
It will look like this before washing with water, I used here with only yellow marker and alcohol-water solution.
DO NOT FORGET to wash the wig with water to wash out the excess ink on the wig, especially on the net of the wig, we don't want to have ink dripping out on our head.
After washing out and dying out by natural air ( I did not use hair dryer, cause I dont have mine right now and Im afraid of the fibers falling out :D )
I used this wig for my Seri Awashima of project K cosplay. Im still noob for styling hehe
yeah the net is showing up heheh
Happy Cosplaying! :D
I read your post and find it very interesting. Your tips for changing the color of wig are extremely helpful. I prefer to wear inexpensive wigs that look like as close to my natural hair as possible. I always buy wigs wigs online from this store of Elevate Styles. I will definitely apply your tips to change my old wig to new one.
ReplyDeletethank you! Im glad I could help :D
